Vascular Ultrasound Prior To Paracentesis

Although the evidence is conflicting, vascular ultrasound prior to paracentesis may prevent a life-threatening complication. This case demonstrated 3 large vessels (inferior epigastric artery & paired veins) immediately below intended puncture site in a complex patient with large volume ascites. 2D & Doppler assessment performed easily with linear high-frequency probe.
