Distal Renal Tubular Acidosis (RTA)  Type 1 



Totally scuppers the kidney's acidification mechanism. Will be much easier to diagnosis with direct urine ammonium assay. 



What is it 

Failure to acidify urine in distal tubular 

Consequent impaired NH4+ secretion 

Cannot lower pH <5.5
