Lyme Disease Pearls


Epidemiology: Ixodes scapularis carrying borrelia 

have spread and are now found in 

growing areas in New England, Mid- 

Atlantic and Midwest states 


Also found in Canada (Quebec, 

Montreal, Nova Scotia) and Europe 

(Austria, Czech Republic, southern 

Germany, Switzerland, Slovakia and 

Slovenia) 


Treatment: TREATMENT 

Shorter course of antibiotics for early lyme (10 days vs 21 days) is fine 

Treating with doxycycline in kids <8 years old is fine
