Cannon A waves during AVNRT on Physical Exam

In AVNRT, the atria and ventricles contract nearly simultaneously at regular intervals. An abrupt rise in RA pressure is transmitted to JV when RA contracts against a closed TV.

EKG of the same patient when the finding was recorded: https://twitter.com/Hussainch/status/1272139402366595072

Number of Cannon A per minute=rate of AVNRT.

This tracing plus regular rapid cannon a waves are enough to diagnose the case as Typical AVNRT. That excludes other differentials of narrow complex tach.

And that’s called “clinical electrophysiology study”.

That’s called Frog sign!
