Treatment of breast cancer: a simplified view

surgical therapy - 5-7 weeks

 - lumpectomy +

 - radiation therapy

 - OR mastectomy

systemic chemotherapy - 12 weeks

 - neoadjuvant or adjuvant (in select cases)

systemic immunotherapy (anti-HER2) - 1 year

 - if HER2 positive

hormonal therapy - 5-10 years

 - if ER/PR positive
