Strongyloidiasis Treatment
Asymptomatic ± eosinophilia (Very low risk):
 • Diagnostic: Serology, Stool Ova and parasites (O&P) examination for larvae
 • Management: Ivermectin 200 ug/kg/day Once daily x 2 doses on day 1 and 2, or 14-days apart
Simple intestinal strongyloidiasis (Low risk):
 • Diagnostic: Serology, Stoop O&P examination for larvae
 • Management: Ivermectin 200 ug/kg/day once daily x 2 doses on day 1 and 2, or 14-days apart
Mild hyperinfection syndrome (Moderate risk):
 • Diagnostic: Serology, Stoop O&P, Sputum examination for larvae
 • Management: Ivermectin 200 ug/kg/day once daily x 2 doses on day 1 and 2, or 14-days apart PLUS 400 mg po BID x 7 days OR, Monotherapy: Ivermectin ug/kg/day once daily x 7 days
Disseminated strongyloidiasis (High risk):
 • Diagnostic: Stool examination for larvae, Sputum examination for larvae, Urine, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) or other fluid or tissue examination for larvae.
 • Management: Ivermectin 200 ug/kg/day or once daily PLUS 400 mg po BID until cessation of larval shedding and clinical improvement
