Treatment of Babesia Infections
Immunocompetent:
 • Mild-Moderate (<4% parasitemia): Azithromycin 500mg day 1, then 250 mg/d, Atovaquone 750mg BID
 • Severe (>4% parasitemia): Azithromycin 500mg/day IV, Atovaquone 750mg BID
Immunocompromised:
 • Mild-Moderate (<4% parasitemia): Azithromycin 600 - 1000 mg/d, Atovaquone 750mg BID
 • Severe (>4% parasitemia): Azithromycin 500mg/day IV, Atovaquone 750mg BID
