Hepatic Portal Venous System Drainage Anatomy
1) Most of the blood from abdominal organs goes into the hepatic portal vein & not the IVC
2) Nutrient rich blood from digestive organs and spleen is delivered to hepatocytes by capillaries of hepatic portal system
3) After processing - blood is delivered to IVC using the hepatic veins
