Typhlitis - Neutropenic Enterocolitis



Pathophysiology:

 • Chemo → friable intestinal mucosa → bacterial translocation +/- perforation

Presentation:

 • Fever + Abdominal Pain (most often after 3rd week of chemo)

 • Abdominal distension & dysmotility, N/V/D, hematochezia

 • Peritonitis (if perforation)

 • Fever may not abate until ANC recovers!
