Here is a lymph node that is lymphoid-depleted, fibrotic, and burned-out, typical of late phase HIV lymphadenitis (so-called "pattern C").

"Pattern C" in HIV Lymphadenitis: 
 - Marked lymphoid depletion, atrophic follicles, 

fibrosis, and vascular proliferation (seen in lymph 

nodes from patients with late phase HIV 

infection) 
 - "Pattern B" (not shown) is a transitional phase 

between pattern A (florid follicular hyperplasia) 

and pattern C
