Diagnosis and Management of Hypocomplementemic Urticarial Vasculitis (HUV)



Diagnosis of HUV

1) Chronic urticaria 

2) Leukocytoclastic vasculitis 

3) Hypocomplementemia (C3 and/or C4) 



Therapeutic management 

1st-line therapy - Hydroxychloroquine, colchicine or disulone 

2nd-line therapy - GCs <0.5 mg/kg/day 

Refractory and/or relapsing - Azathioprine, MMF, cyclophosphamide 

Alternative agents - Rituximab, anti-IgE, anti-IL-1
