Age - 1 - Per additional 10-year increase starting at 10 years of age

Number of rib fractures - 3 - Per additional rib fracture

Chronic lung disease - 5

Pre-injury anticoagulant use - 4

Oxygen saturation levels - 2 Per 5% decrease in oxygen saturation starting at 94%



Final risk score - Probability of complications

0 to 10 - 13%

11 to 15 - 29%

16 to 20 - 52%

21 to 25 - 70%

26 to 30 - 80%

31+ - 88%
