Long and Rapid Acting Insulin Pens - Brand Names

Basal insulin is available in the long-acting forms of glargine (Lantus, Basaglar, and Toujeo), detemir (Levemir) and degludec (Tresiba). Meal-time coverage is available in rapid-acting of aspart (Novolog and Fiasp), lispro (Humalog and Admelog), or glulisine (Apidra). It’s important to know these various brand names since most patients do not know the generic terms.
