TNF-Alpha Inhibitors Pharmacology

TNF-a receptor activation produces a nunber of effects that can worsen rheumatoid arthritis (RA). TNF levels are elevated the synovial of patients with RA. Infliximab is a chimeric monoclonal antibody to TNF-a. Etanercept is a soluble recombinant TNF receptor:Fc fusion protein. Both of these drugs bind to TNF-a and prevent it from interacting with its receptor. r. Adalimumab (not shown) is a human monoclonal antibody to TNF-a that works like Infliximab.
