Albany Medical Health System (Albany Med) seeks a dynamic, experienced physician leader to serve as its inaugural Chief Health Informatics Officer (CHIO). This is an exceptional opportunity to join a growing and financially strong regional healthcare organization that has made significant capital investments over the past several years, expanding in both size and scale to meet the healthcare needs of the communities it serves. Comprised of Albany Medical Center, Columbia Memorial Health, Glens Falls Hospital and Saratoga Hospital, the Albany Med Health System is the only regionally governed, not-for-profit health system serving northeastern New York and western New England.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this role will partner with information technology leadership on an upcoming system-wide EHR implementation. A key initiative for Albany Med is the transition from disparate information systems to an integrated EHR. This project will be critical in developing a strong foundation for the system as they continue to come together to serve the community.

The CHIO will develop a team of physician champions throughout the health system to evangelize the optimization of patient care systems and devise innovative processes to improve the use of the EHR in support of research, data management and technology innovation. The CHIO will be a highly visible leader with physician executives, administrative leaders, the IT staff, and other key stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will be someone who thrives in being a visible leader, motivating and managing people and resources across the hospital system. The CHIO must be an inclusive and persuasive leader that can effectively sell the vision of how technology can improve care delivery and system performance. The successful candidate will be an experienced informaticist who will be adept at championing the EHR to the clinical community but also capable of contributing more broadly in the field of clinical informatics. They will have an appreciation for, and desire to work closely with, the research enterprise at an academic medical center and invest in clinical, research and education missions across the system of care.
